Caddy For A Cure

2009 WINNERS

Brian Mullen with Ben Curtis, FBR Open, Phoenix

We just wanted to thank you and Colleen again for hosting dinner on Tuesday night and for coordinating Brian's amazing day at the FBR Open. Brian had a wonderful experience, and I did as well. Have a safe journey home and keep up that great work!!

Joanne Fried with Ben Curtis, FBR Open, Phoenix

Caddy for A Cure was one of the most enjoyable golf experiences I have ever been involved with. The best part of my day was not just being able to meet Ben Curtis but also to be able to share the experience with Michael Proscia, wounded veteran. Ben was a fantastic golfer to be able to enjoy this experience with and he made all of us feel welcome and appreciated.

WWP Veteran Michael Proscia with Ben Curtis, FBR Open, Phoenix

Thanks for sending the newsletter. Great pics and article. Just FYI though I was blown up 3 times in less than 36 hours and a total of 9 incidents in 6 months...I have a follow-up with the ankle Dr on Monday and will hopefully be getting the boot off, then start using the membership to the TPC. I hope you guys are doing great. Remember if you need anything from me just let me know, I am more than willing to help in any way I can.

Tom Ghyczy with Zach Johnson, Northern Trust Open, Los Angeles

It was everything I had hoped for and more. Zach and Damon were incredibly nice and the entire day was a total blast.

Tim Olson with Fred Couples, Northern Trust Open, Los Angeles

We had a great time! We couldn't of asked for a better day, Freddie was unbelievable to caddy for, and the experience went beyond our expectations. To have this experience and help your charities at the same time makes the day even more meaningful. Again, thanks,

Michael O'Sullivan with Sean O'Hair, TRansistions Championship, Tampa

Thanks Russ for your very kind words. The great company Rose & I were in made it such a pleasurable and memorable day for us.To your good self, Sean and Paul I would like to say that it was one of the nicest days I've spent in a long time.

Steve Knoop with Davis Love III, Arnold Palmer Invitational, Orlando

Thanks very much for forwarding the pictures of my day with Davis and Mark Love at Bay Hill last week. I truly enjoyed the opportunity to experience CFAC--Davis and his brother Mark were first class in every way. If you see them, please let them know how much I appreciated the day. Being able to watch Davis' swing up close was amazing. Most of all, I was impressed with the relaxed and friendly atmosphere that they created. I will be rooting for Davis to win every tournament he enters.Caddy for a Cure is clearly a passion for you and you should be proud of the difference you are making on behalf of Fanconi anemia research. Keep up the good work.

Doug Renegar with Robert Allenby, Verizon Heritage, Hilton Head

Now that I’m back to reality I wanted to say “thank you” very much for the opportunity to participate in the Caddy for A Cure event. I’ve told several people about my experiences and will always remember it! Your commitment to Franchone Anemia (sorry about the spelling) is awesome. It was an honor to meet Christian! For a 16 year old to be that composed and confident was incredible. His sense of humor was inspirational. We all have our own demons and obviously one of mine is weight. I know how to get in shape and lose weight however I’ve been missing a catalyst. When I met Christian I realized, if he was given a choice of dealing with his disease or having the choice to have a normal body (provided he took care of it) would be a no-brainer. Because of that thought, I’ve renewed my commitment to getting in shape and losing weight.God works in mysterious ways, Christian provides inspiration to others without his knowledge.

Jamey Dennis with Boo Weekley, Verizon Heritage, Hilton Head

My third time doing this and I will be back again. Can I say any more about how cool this is?

Mark Clapp with Jim Furyk, Quail Hollow Championship, Charlotte

I thoroughly enjoyed my time spent with you last week in Charlotte during the Quail Hollow Championship. From our initial meeting on Tuesday until we parted ways on Wednesday afternoon, I would say that the experience ranked near the top of any sports related event that I have been a part of. Jim Furyk was an absolute gentleman and a pleasure to be with. For an avid golfer this was truly a one of a kind experience that created some memories that will last a lifetime. I actually saw Fluff yesterday and he asked if my shoulder was sore. I admitted that it was. Too bad Jim just couldn’t find a way to be your 20th winner. The best part of the whole experience was knowing that in some small way, my contribution is being used to help those less fortunate through your wonderful Caddy For a Cure organization. You and your wife should be commended for the commitment you have made and the difference you are making in people’s lives.Thank you again for providing me this opportunity and I am proud to be a small part of the Caddy For Cure family. Keep in touch and if you find yourself back in the Charlotte area give me a call and we can go tee it up!

Chip Powell with Jim Furyk, Quail Hollow Championship, Charlotte

Thank you for the pictures and the wonderful day at Quail Hollow. My initial reaction when Mark brought up the idea of caddying was sure,........ sounds like fun. The great surprise was that it was one of those experiences in life you will never forget. All my family and friends have had to listen to me go on and on about what a wonderful time I had. The trio of you, Jim and Fluff couldn't have been better. I felt so welcomed and truly enjoyed the conversations I had with each of you. I had heard and read many compliments regarding Jim Furyck. In addition to his obvious talent as a professional golfer, I was so awed by how humble he was and the dedication he had to his family. You should name him the spokesperson for Caddy for a Cure. I was also inspired by your commitment, and frankly, without you, the experience would not have been complete. Thank you for going above and beyond the call to insure a spectacular day. If you ever need a testimonial from a "caddy," do not hesitate to give me a call. I will be happy to share my experience. Russ, I know you have touched the lives of many in your path. I am grateful to be one of them!

Roshed Aboudon with Matt Kuchar, PLAYERS Championship, Ponte Vedra Beach

Larry Freeman with Matt & Meg Kuchar, PLAYERS Championship, Ponte Vedra Beach

It was a Mountain Top experience for me and I'm sure Rashed. Russ, you and Christian are the perfect hosts and all your kindness and support is greatly appreciated.

Dave Smith with Vaughn Taylor, PLAYERS Championship, Ponte Vedra Beach

Jamey Price with Chad Campbell, HP Byron Nelson Championship, Dallas

There are very few words to describe how much I enjoyed being with Chad and Judd. This was first class all the way and a day I will never forget.

Michael Conte with Todd Hamilton, US Open, 2009

It was an incredible day and I will never forget. What you were able to put together with your experience and knowledge of a game loved by so many people is truly amazing. I have raised money and awareness for different events but this is so truly unique I can not wait until we have some time to sit down and discuss what I and my company can do to help you help others. Also, I will text Todd later but let me know I really appreciated today, it was a great time.

Fred Keel with Paul Casey, ATT National, 2009

This being the third straight year participating in Caddy For A Cure, you've made the experience better each and every time. Being paired up with Paul Casey exceeded all my expectations. He and Craig were gracious hosts and could not have been more engaging and down to earth. He told me some great stories about life on the road and we must have spent 4 or 5 holes continuously talking about our bicycle collections. It seems like he was more excited than me to talk bike stuff...and I think Craig was beyond himself when Paul and I really got into it :)For the number 3 player in the world, Paul is not only grounded, but genuinely gracious to all the fans outside the ropes. It's great to see that he really understands what the CFAC program is all about and is a great asset not only to you and CFAC, but also to the PGA TOUR. As always, many thanks to you, Paul and Craig for providing another opportunity to live a dream for one day. I hope paul continues to participate.

Dennis McGlone with Hunter Mahan, ATT National, 2009

Caddy For A Cure gave me a unique opportunity to contribute to, and participate in, a very worthwhile cause at the AT&T National Pro-Am at Congressional Country Club. It had special meaning for me because in addition to contributing financially, I was able to put my own skin in the game by dedicating my "work" to a family friend dealing with Fanconi Anemia. It was fun work, thanks to PGA Tour Pro, Hunter Mahan, and his Tour Caddie, John Wood, who made me feel welcome, and saw to it that my day "inside the ropes" was one I will always cherish. My sincere gratitude goes to them and Caddy For A Cure Founder and CEO, Russ Holden.

Scott Sanders with Jerry Kelly, US Bank Championship

I wanted to take a moment to thank you and Colleen for another wonderful experience in Milwaukee. Having the opportunity to spend the day with Jerry Kelly and Eric Meller was truly a treat in our hometown of Milwaukee. Jerry and Eric could not have been any nicer and we shared many hockey stories and laughs during the round. Jerry and Eric are as equally impressive people as they are a team on the PGA Tour. Also enjoyed and appreciated the time we were able to share and the dinner with Eric and James, what a blast! It is days like this that reaffirms my commitment to CFAC and beating Fanconi Anemia! It is also heartwarming that see the good that CFAC does for the Wounded Warriors charity and Jerry’s commitment to helping Chris Smith and his family during the very difficult times in the tragic loss of his wife, Beth. Can’t wait to see you all and the Collins family soon!

Joe Faeh with Rich Beem, PGA Championship

Thank you for the best golf experience I could ever imagine!!! It was nothing but 1st class from the opening introductions to the final hand shakes. Any expectations I had were greatly exceeded. I tried to soak up every second and I didn't want the morning to end. I carried the bag for a Major Champion, cleaned his clubs, raked bunkers, walked off yardages, this was the real deal. Rich and his "real" caddy Bill ?????? where very open to my questions and shared with me a golfing experience behind the ropes that I could never have being an "average Joe" golfer. The folks at Caddy For a Cure provide an opportunity that is unequaled in other sports and these memories will stay with me for a lifetime. The charities they support are very fortunate to have them on their side. Thanks again for this opportunity and I hope to be able to do it again in the future.

Tuan Schneider with Rich Beem, PGA Championship

Andy Lee with Ian Poulter, The Barclays, New Jersey

What an unbelievable and surreal day. Ian Poulter and his caddy Terry were a blast to be around. Both were very engaging and great senses of humor. This was truly a once in a life time experience to be able to loop for one of the top players in the world and really experience first hand what it is like to be inside the ropes. Russ did an amazing job of enhancing the day and making sure that it truly was a special experience. Great day and great cause. Thanks again.

Loren Ledford with Kenny Perry, The Barclays, New Jersey

Thanks for a great experience with Kenny Perry. I had the time of my life.

Tom Guinan with Padraig Harrington, The Barclays

Many, many thanks for yesterday. Im tired today, but I feel great having had a tremendous experience, thanks to you, my friend Dave Repetto, Ronan and Padraig. The highlight has to be walking down the fairway with my boys, Danny, Michael and Andrew along with Padraig. A once in a lifetime experience for all! Danny handing Padraig his ball on 18 for his final putt does not get any better.Although exhausted (Im sure you guys thought I wasnt going to make all 18!), I went out and played 9 holes with my brother last night (shot 41). Had to continue the experience by retelling the day which Im sure Ill be doing for the next weeks and months.Keep up the good work. The most important things are the charities and people you help. Thank you for letting me be a part of that effort.

Sean Murphy with Anthony Kim, Deutsche Bank Championship, Boston

I had a great time caddying for Anthony. He is such a natural talent. To have the chance to see the swing speed up close was impressive. Both Anthony and Eric Larson were generous with their time showing me how they approach the course setup and conditions. This is a very unique experience and worthy charity. If you are a golf addict take advantage of the opportunity. There isn't a better "front row" seat in sports.

Levi Parmerter with Stewart Cink, Deutsche Bank Championship, Boston

I have always been a fan of the game of golf. I have always loved to play it, and I always enjoy watching it. However.... I stink at it and realize I am never ever going to be a pro. No matter how much I play l will always have to go back to my real job Monday morning. This summer I had an opportunity to participate in Caddy for a Cure at the Deutsche Bank Championship. I had an amazing day!! I got to caddie for Stewart Cink a.k.a 2009 British Open champ and flat out great guy. As if being behind the ropes with Stewart carrying his bag wasnt enough the pro-am group he was set with included Chris Berman of ESPN, and Stephen Pagliuca co-owner of the Boston Celtics. Stewart Cink didn't teach me much about golf that day, THANK GOD ! To be honest, I wasn't interested in the match (some caddie I am) I was just taking in the sights and hanging with the "CHAMP" of the British Open. What Stewart did teach me was how a superstar can be a true class act, and overall great human being. Both Stewart and his "real" caddie Frank were extremely genuine people that made me feel like a better person having spent the day with them. These guys walk up and down the fairways talking about what shot to hit, what position the pin is in etc. but they also discuss their faith, what their families are doing, how their son's hockey team will do this year, how their favorite NCAA football team looks this season and so on. There is so much that happens behind the ropes with these incredible athletes, with Caddy for a Cure you get to see it all. These guys are dealing with the game itself, the fans, the elements, a rookie no good caddie and as we all know....their swing!!! Stewart and Frank have touched my life in a very positive way and I appreciate the day I had with them, THANK YOU GUYS!!!! Since my day I have followed the Caddy for a Cure foundation. This is truly an amazing group of people that are touching the lives of some very incredible people. From the moment I met Russ Holden, founder of Caddy for a Cure, to the moment we putted out on the 18th green it was an amazing experience. If you are like me and realize you will never be a pro and may not ever even place in a local tournament (just admit it) but love the game and love these superstars get on board and participate in Caddy for a Cure..........It is as close as you can get and I assure you will never forget it! In the words of Chris Berman I hope to be back back back back back back back back back back next year! Thanks to Russ, Joanne, Stewart and Frank truly an unforgettable experience.

Kevin Comeau with Camilo Villegas, Deutsche Bank Championship, Boston
