FAQS
Here are some of our most frequently asked questions...
Where does all the money go that I give to Caddy For A Cure to caddy?
100% of the money that we receive for the experience of caddying goes to charity. Split equally, we give to the Fanconi Anemia Research Fund, the Wounded Warrior Project, the PGA TOUR Caddie Benevolent Fund, the PGA TOUR players charity of choice, and the PGA TOUR host site charity of choice.
How heavy are those bags?
This seems to be a common question. Most of the bags weigh around 30 pounds. With the new lightweight materials available on golf bags today, they can be rather light. Of course the PGA TOUR player and PGA TOUR professional caddy know that this is your first time caddying, so they do everything they can to "lighten the load" and make it as light as possible. Of course, the PGA TOUR caddy is right there with you the entire way and they are more than happy to pick up the bag for a few holes if you get weary.
What if I don't see my favorite player on your list?
Great question. If you really wanted to caddy for one particular player at a particular event, contact us at russ@caddyforacure.com and let us know who and wehre and we will work on it for you.
We love what you are doing and want our charity to be a beneficiary, how do we do that?
Unfortunately, unless your charity is one of the selected charities that we have in our breakdown of funds, we cannot add a new beneficiary. We can however, offer a unique way of helping your charity at your next auction or gala. Contact russ@caddyforacure.com for more details on this opportunity
I would like to bring some guests to watch me caddy, can I?
By all means, bring your own "fan club" and let them enjoy some of the action. Bear in mind that we can secure them badges as part of your package at no extra cost but your guests may not go inside the ropes. Most of the PGA TOUR players are very cool about family and friends and many have allowed some great pictures after the round with friends. Phil Mickelson one year invited the entire family inside the ropes to walk the 18th hole with he and Bones. Further, he gave Masters flags personalized to the children of the caddy!
If 100% of the monies that I give go to charity, how does Caddy For A Cure survive?
We run this company and survive off of the sponsorships that we sell, along with gracious donations and gifts from people around the world who care. If you would like to make a donation, click here to be taken to our PayPal gift page.
I don't want to have to bid on eBay, can I buy the experience directly?
By all means, YES! Contact us directly at russ@caddyforacure.com and allow us to arrange a day with your favorite player at your favorite PGA TOUR stop. This is an awesome client gift, corporate giveaway, or employee incentive. We can certainly make this happen for you and meet your specific goals and needs.
Do I need to have someone come along and take pictures of me?
You are welcome to have someone come along and watch you and take pictures, but there is no need to worry about pictures. We take several hundred pictures of you caddying and burn these to a CD and send after the day is complete. We often get many pictures that are sensational and will become a lifetime memory of your day on the PGA TOUR.
What do I wear when I am caddying?
When you sign up to caddy, you must sign our "Terms and Conditions" form which says that you are agreeing to wear our clothing provided to you at no cost from our sponsors. This is a hat, a shirt, and a bib. You MAY wear shorts but they must of walking shorts length, no jeans, or cut offs. Also, cargo shorts are not permitted.
For shoes, you may NOT wear spikeless golf shoes. You must wear a flat soled shoe preferably a tennis shoe, not a nibbed running shoe.
Can I do it with someone else (2 people caddy for a player)?
Of course! We like this as we get more people involved. We have had several people want to share in the fun and each do nine holes, or something like that. Only one person at a time can go inside the ropes, but we can make this happen for a few people who want to share the experience.
Can my son/daughter do it?
Yes. We would like them to be at least 16 years of age, but this mainly depends on the maturity level of the youngster. If they can handle being on this stage, in the spotlight in front of thousands, by all means. If not, we encourage the parents or buyer to come along with them and experience this as a twosome of caddying. We had a grandfather and grandson do it once and it was one of our most terrific and inspirational experiences ever!
Can I bring items to be autographed?
Yes, you can bring some items but we say this with extreme caution. We would ask that you only ask the player you are working with for autographs, and please, make them limited and personal. Please do not use this as a means for sales for other avenues. We treasure our relationship with these great players and we do not want to offend them in any way.
